Cross-Country for COTA 5K Race
Taking Place at Franklin’s Harlinsdale Farm to Raise Funds for Life-Saving Transplant
Franklin, TN – Cross-Country For COTA, a 5K cross-country race through beautiful Harlinsdale Farm Park in Franklin, TN, will be held Saturday, March 26th in honor of Witt Deane, a Franklin-area child who received a heart transplant. 10-month-old Witt received his transplant at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN this past fall. Funds are being raised to assist with his transplant-related expenses.
The gently rolling course will be an enjoyable contrast to the typical pavement-pounding of a road race. Proceeds will benefit Witt and children like him through the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA). Information about the race and online registration can be found by visiting the Nashville Sports Council’s website at http://www.crosscountry4cota.com/.
Please share this link and encourage people to sign up. Those not interested in running can sign up to volunteer through this same link, and the site also supports online fundraising.
“The family and friends of Witt Deane want to encourage and challenge everyone to ask their neighbors and colleagues to participate in this unique race event for Witt Deane who received a second chance at life,” said Dan Albert, Event Chair. “100% of the funds collected at the race will assist with transplant-related expenses.” For additional questions about the race please contact: locustdan@gmail.com.
Since 1986, COTA has helped thousands of patients raise millions of dollars for transplant-related expenses. COTA is a national non-profit organization that helps children and young adults who need or have had a life-saving transplant by raising funds to pay transplant-related expenses. Transplant families look to COTA for assistance and support, for hope and miracles.
With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant patients are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients. In Franklin, volunteers are raising funds for transplant patients like local baby Henry ‘Witt’ Deane.
